7.7. Cleaning the generating set
Cleaning with a water jet is not recommended.
Cleaning with high pressure cleaning equipment is forbidden.
Important
Remove all dust and debris from around the exhaust.
Clean the generating set, particularly the alternator and engine air inlets and outlets, using a cloth and brush.
Check the general condition of the generating set and replace any faulty parts.
8. Storing the generating set
In the event that the generating set is not to be used for a long period, it must be stored in accordance with the guidelines below.
Open the fuel tap (diag. D - no. 6) and drain the fuel from the tank into a suitable container.
Switch on the engine until it runs out of fuel.
While the engine is still warm, change the engine oil (see the Changing the engine oil section).
Run the engine for 2 to 3 seconds with the decompression lever (diag. D - no. 7) set in the non-compression position and the
on/off key (diag. B - no. 1) in the on position [position (A)].
Do not start the engine.
Allow the decompression lever to return to the top, then slowly pull the starter-recoil reel handle (diag. B - no. 2) until there is some
resistance .
Clean the generating set and cover it with a protective cover to protect it from dust.
Store the generating set in a clean, dry place.
