BOUND BUTTONHOLE
A bound buttonhole provides a professional touch
to tailored garments like suits, coats and jackets.
116. Bound Buttonhole
Buttonhole Foot (F)
1. Cut a patch of fabric 2.5 cm (1") wide, 1 cm
(1/3") longer than the finished buttonhole.
Baste a patch so that the center line of patch
will align with the center line mark of buttonhole.

2. Lower the buttonhole lever and sew buttonhole.

Machine will sew the buttonhole in the order as
shown and stop automatically after sewing.
3. Press the thread cutter button and raise the
presser foot to remove the fabric.
4. Carefully cut through the center of buttonhole to
within 3 mm of each end. Cut diagonally to
each corner as shown.
Remove the basting.
5. Draw the patch through the opening to the
underside.
6. Turn the fabric and pull the patch through the
buttonhole rectangle.
Press the patch.

7. Turn the patch and press the side seam
allowance.
8. Fold each side of the patch to form pleats that
meet at the center of the buttonhole and cover
the opening. Press the patch.
9. Turn the fabric to right side and baste along the
center of each fold.
