2 General Information
2.1 Function and Application
The BRITA PURITY Quell ST Water Filter System is used to remove carbon from drinking water to
prevent limescale deposits in downstream appliances. Using the fl ow method, calcium and magne-
sium ions as well as heavy metal ions like lead and copper are selectively removed from the fi ltered
drinking water via an ion exchanger. Furthermore, the fi lter material reduces cloudiness and organic
impurities, as well as contents which affect taste and odour (e.g. chlorine residues) in the fi ltrate
and bypass water. By-pass settings on the connector head are used to set the total hardness reduc-
tion to the local water hardness or the requirements of the application in order to achieve an opti-
mum water quality. The fi lter systems are available in 3 different fi lter system sizes (PURITY 450,
PURITY 600 and PURITY 1200) and each in the version without integrated measuring and display
electronics or with measuring and display electronics.
Filter systems with measuring and display units show you the current remaining capacity of your
fi lter cartridge, the fi lter system size set (PURITY 450, PURITY 600 or PURITY 1200) and the last
replacement date of the fi lter cartridge. This ensures optimum fi lter control.
Further information on fi lter systems with measuring and display units can be found in Chapter 5.2.
The unique IntelliBypass ensures a constant by-pass proportion over the entire usage periods, irre-
spective of the volumetric fl ow of the terminal device concerned. The result is a consistently high
water quality specifi cally tailored to the application-specifi c requirements and the local water condi-
tions.
Typical applications for BRITA PURITY Quell ST water fi lter systems are coffee and espresso
machines, hot and cold drinks vending machines as well as steam ovens (combi ovens) and air
humidifi ers.
The fi lter system is designed for limited spaces, especially in drinks machines and kitchen installa-
tions and can be operated horizontally and vertically.
The food quality of BRITA water fi lter products has been inspected and confi rmed by an independ-
ent institute.
Note: The AquaQuell PURITY 300 product has been renamed PURITY 450 Quell ST as part of a
name harmonisation without any other technical amendments. Products of the PURITY size sys-
tems with the size designators 300 and 450 are 100% identical. All system components with the
names 300 and 450 are compatible with each other and can be freely combined (e.g. PURITY 450
Quell ST fi lter cartridge can be used in AquaQuell PURITY 300 pressure vessel or PURITY 450 Quell
pressure vessel can be combined with AquaQuell PURITY 300 pressure vessel).
2.2 Guarantee Provisions
The PURITY Quell fi lter system is subject to the statutory guarantee of 2 years. A guarantee claim
may be asserted only if all instructions in this Handbook are followed and observed.
