USE OF LUBRICANTS
Porter-Cable's "Lube Wax" is available as an accessory and is recommended when
cutting aluminum, brass, and thick materials. Cut cast iron dry.
With the saw running, apply to wax momentarily to both sides of the blade.
Reapply wax as needed.
After prolonged cutting, the wax will cling to the pulleys of your band saw. This
does not affect the operation of the tool. Disconnect the tool from the power
source and wipe the wax from the pulleys.

TO CHANGE SAW BLADES

To remove the blade, turn handle (A),
Fig. 3, clockwise to release tension on
the saw blade. Remove the blade first
from the pulleys and then from the blade
guide.
Before installing a blade, clean
accumulated chips and wax from blade
guides and pulley tires. To install the
blade, insert the blade in the blade guides
and then position them on the pulleys.
NOTE: Make sure that the teeth on the
left side of the tool point toward the
rear of the tool. See Fig. 4 and 5. Turn
handle (A), Fig. 3 counter-clockwise as
far as it will go to place tension on the
saw blade.
Start and stop the saw two or three times
to seat the blade on the pulleys.
HOW TO USE A PORTABLE BAND SAW
1.
Firmly secure the workpiece to prevent movement.
2.
Set the Two-Speed switch to the desired position. Speed can be changed
while the tool is running.
3.
Hold the saw as shown in Fig. 5, with the work stop (A) contacting the work
and blade teeth clear of the work.
4.
Turn saw "ON" and lower onto the
work. Allow the weight of the saw
to control the cutting pressure.
Additional pressure will slow down
the speed of the blade and reduce
cutting efficiency.
5.
Hold the saw straight in the cut.
Any twisting or cocking of the blade
results in shorter blade life.
Never use liquid coolant with your band saw. Damage to the
blade guide bearings or rubber tires on the pulleys may result.
Exercise extreme care to prevent hands from contacting
the blade.
Disconnect the tool from the power source.
