turning).
Things to check during and following each use
of the tool:
Please make sure that the product has no
cracks or fractures, deformations or signs of
corrosion; and that all components are tightly
attached to each other. Check and verify the
correct brake function and rope issue before
use with the rope which will be used. Make sure
that all component parts are correctly attached/
connected with each other. Make certain that
the rope issue and positioning of the carabiner
are correct. Pay special attention that the
carabiner is locked perfectly. Make sure the
selfie-bar encloses the belay loop.
Operating instructions:
1. Installation
a) Clip the carabiner HMS RONDO autolock
selfie into the belay loop of your climbing
harness. Make sure that the selfie-bar encloses
the belay loop, so that it is not possible for the
carabiner to twist or turn. see illustration 3
b) Place the rope into the rope uptake of the
FISH. Make sure the rope is placed in the
correct direction. The rope faces for brake hand
and climber must correspond to the graphic
depiction on the device. see illustration 4
c) Feed the carabiner through the carabiner
slits on the FISH and through the rope loop.
Make sure that rope and both carabiner slits are
clipped into the carabiner and that the carabiner
closure is correctly locked. Make sure that the
slackening cock of the FISH points towards the
person who is securing and the operating bar
points away from the person. see illustration 5
2. Feeding out the rope
Method 1: Tube principle (sticht principle)
see illustration 6
Method 2: place the thumb of your brake hand
under the operating bar of the FISH and move
the device horizontally away from you. Make
sure that your brake hand loosely encloses the
free rope end with tunnel-grip. The other hand
pulls the rope through the device.
see illustration 7
3. Pull in the rope
The lead hand reels in the rope, the brake hand
is briefly raised and pulls the rope through
the device. Then the brake hand returns
immediately down to where it was. Move your
brake hand with tunnel-grip back to the device.
see illustration 8a, 8b, 8c
4. Catch the jerk of the fall
Hold the free end of the rope in fully enclosing
grip, keep your brake hand below.
5. Slacken off
Method 1: Use your lead hand to operate the
slackening cock. see illustration 9
The brake hand encloses (tunnel-grip) the
free rope end. If the slackening cock is pulled
completely toward the body, the slackening
speed is strongly braked or brought to a full
stop, depending on rope diameter.
Method 2: Hold the free rope end with both
hands. Place the thumb of one hand under the
operating cock of the FISH and move the device
horizontally away from you or pull it upwards.
see illustration 10
6. Rapelling
For rapelling, lay the device in place (as
