Removing and Installing The Flip Grip
Your Universal Flip-Up Loupe comes with a flip grip installed on the flip-up hinge. The flip grip allows you to tilt the flip-up
hinge during procedures without contaminating the hinge or telescopes. The flip grip is removable so it can be cleaned or replaced.
Remove The Flip Grip
Hold onto the flip-up hinge with one hand while pulling the flip grip
straight off the flip-up hinge (Figure 13). It will take reasonable force
to remove the flip grip from the flip-up hinge.
Install The Flip Grip
Push the flip grip straight onto the pupillary distance (PD) knob at the
center of the flip-up hinge. You will hear an audible click when the flip
grip is secured to the flip-up hinge.
Problem
The telescopes are not converged, or
the two circles that form the field of
view do not appear as an ellipse and
in focus.
The flip-up hinge does not maintain its
position when released.
The mounting clip is loose.
The vertical slide is loose.

Troubleshooting
Solution
• Check that the frame sits level on your face.
• Adjust the vertical slide depth to a shallower or steeper angle.
• Adjust the declination angle of your telescopes by tilting the flip-up hinge
at the lower hinge joint.
• Rotate the pupillary distance (PD) knob to adjust the telescopes wider or
more narrow.
Do not loosen the telescope convergence screws.
Use the optical screwdriver provided to tighten the screw at the upper hinge
joint. When properly adjusted, the upper hinge joint should rotate with some
resistance when force is applied.
The mounting clip should be centered on the frame with the lenses secured
between the mounting clip and mounting arms. Use the optical screwdriver
provided to tighten the mounting screw until the mounting clip does not move.
Use the optical screwdriver provided to tighten the mounting screw until the
vertical slide is secure enough to move up and down the vertical slide mount
with some resistance when force is applied.
