1.
Raise vehicle – Raise car on ramps or hoist. Assure that vehicle is blocked and that it is safe to be underneath.
2.
Remove bumper trim – Remove the thin, black trim piece clipped onto the bottom of the bumper. Pop out the two (2) plastic clips that hold the trim piece on and return to customer.
3.
Remove large trim piece – Remove the larger piece of trim now visible by prying back the two (2) plastic clips holding it onto the frame and return to customer.
4.
Remove exhaust cover – Remove the driver side exhaust port cover by removing the two (2) plastic clips on the bottom and opening the two (2) clips on top. Set the cover aside.
5.
Lower exhaust – Remove the two (2) rubber exhaust hangers using exhaust removal pliers.
6.
Install mount brackets – Raise brackets into position. Ensure factory weldnuts are free of rust and debris. Install flange bolt with conical washer into front two holes and drivers side rear hole in mounting
brackets, hand tighten bolts.
7.
Install passenger side fastener – For passenger side rear fastener, thread pull wire onto carriage bolt. Insert pull wire through square hole in spacer block, kink wire as shown in Figure 2. Thread pull wire
through access hole in frame and out through hole in hitch mount bracket, pull bolt and block into position. Install conical washer over pull wire, use washer to hold bolt while removing pull wire. While
holding bolt, finger tighten ½" hex nut onto bolt.
8.
Install hitch – Raise hitch into position between mount brackets. Install flange bolt with conical washer through mount bracket and hitch side bracket, install second conical washer and hex nut. Hand
tighten nut. Repeat for other 5 fasteners.
9.
Torque fasteners – Tighten all M12 and ½" fasteners with torque wrench to 75Lb.-Ft (101 n*m)
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secured to the vehicle when towing.
10. Raise exhaust – Raise exhaust into position and reinstall rubber hangers.
11. Reassembly – Reinstall exhaust cover in bumper. Secure wiring as needed to hitch by inserting cable tie through hole in mounting bracket.
12. Lower vehicle.
Note: Check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe
safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation
V-5 and SAE J684.
