ADJUSTMENT
If the camshaft ruler can be inserted in the TDC position of the crankshaft, but the setting gauge for
the phase encoder disc cannot, proceed as follows:
1. Retract and retain the tensioning rail away from the chain by using the chain tensioner retaining
pin. Important: Before adjusting the engine timing, the tensioning rail must be retracted to avoid
damage to the rail.
2. Loosen the bolt of inlet camshaft sprocket, counter-holding the camshaft with a spanner on the
hexagon provided on the camshaft. Do not use any timing tool as counter-holder.
3. Fit a new sprocket bolt and tighten only sufficiently to allow the timing disc to turn.
4. Remove the chain tensioner retaining pin and install the setting gauge for phase encoder disc.
5. Tighten the screw of the camshaft sprocket to the specified torque.
Use a suitable tool for counter-holding the camshaft.
6. Remove all engine timing tools. Turn the crankshaft two revolutions in the direction of engine
rotation until the 1-cylinder is in ignition TDC again.
7. Reinstall all tools to check engine timing.
