Items in illustrations in the instructions may differ from
the model being worked on. The illustrations are used
for different instructions and may therefore vary between
engine models. The essential information is correct.
General Information
•
A rudder indicator may be connected to maximum
two analog gauges
•
Instrument calibration is carried out in the engine
compartment
•
Attach the control unit (ECU) using cable ties or similar
as illustrated in fig. 3. Must not be fastened with screws
or bolts
•
Fig. 4* shows connection of the IRS.

NOTE! If the rudder indicator was pre-installed at the
factory operations 1 - 6 may be disregarded.
Installation of spindle adapter (refer to fig. 1)
1.
Remove the power steering unit cover (SUS)
2.
Position the spindle adapter as illustrated
3.
Apply locking fluid, (part. no: 85145751) extra strong.
Tighten. Tightening torque: 2 Nm. (1.5 lbf ft)
4.
Install the power steering unit cover (SUS)
5.
Apply locking fluid (part no. 85145751) extra strong.
6.
Install the rudder indicator above the spindle adapter
7.
Screw the rudder indicator in place.
Connection of IRS (refer to fig. 3)
8.
Attach the control unit (ECU) using the cable ties
9.
Connect the wiring to the analog gauge
10. LED lamp (green, orange and red mode indication)
11. 3-position switch.

Calibration

NOTE! The switch must be centered for normal opera-
tions.
A: Ampere (A). Electrical current mode for analog gauge.
The LED shines green.
Ω: Ohm (Ω). Resistance mode for analog gauge.
The LED shines orange.
1.
Center the IPS
units. Refer to the installation manual.
2.
Switch to calibration mode by moving the switch to
the right or left depending on position A or Ω.
The LED lamp will flash green or orange.
3.
Wait 4 seconds until the lamp flash frequency
changes.
4.
Move the switch back to its central position.
The lamp now shines continuously.
To interrupt or restart calibration:
Move the switch back before the lamp flash frequency
changes.
If the lamp flashes red, calibration has failed.
Recalibrate: repeat items 1 - 4 as described above.
