into the storage bin.
A. Location
CAUTION
1. This icemaker is not intended for outdoor use. Normal
operating ambient temperature should be within
45°F to 100°F (7°C to 38°C); Normal operating water
temperature should be within 45°F to 90°F (7°C
to 32°C). Operation of the icemaker, for extended
periods, outside of these normal temperature ranges
may affect icemaker performance.
2. This icemaker will not work at sub‑freezing
temperatures. To prevent damage to the water supply
line, have a qualified service technician drain the
icemaker if the air temperature is going to go below
32°F (0°C). Instructions for draining the icemaker are
provided in the Installation Manual supplied with this
icemaker under "Preparing the Icemaker for Long
Storage."
3. Do not place anything in front of the louver(s)
(air‑cooled models).
B. Electrical Connection
WARNING
1. Electrical connection must meet national, state, and
local electrical code requirements. Failure to meet
these code requirements could result in death,
electric shock, serious injury, fire, or severe damage
to equipment.
2. This unit requires an independent power supply of
proper capacity. See the nameplate for electrical
specifications. Failure to use a properly sized breaker
or fuse can result in a tripped breaker, blown fuses,
or damage to existing wiring. This could lead to heat
generation or fire.
3. THIS UNIT MUST BE GROUNDED (EARTHED).
Failure to properly ground (earth) this unit could result
in death or serious injury.
4. ON REMOTE AIR-COOLED MODEL, THE REMOTE
CONDENSER UNIT MUST ALSO BE GROUNDED
(EARTHED). The power supply and ground (earth)
wire to the remote condenser unit are supplied from
the icemaker.
• Usually an electrical permit and services of a licensed
electrician are required.
• If a power cord and/or a plug should need to be fitted/
replaced, it should only be done by a qualified service
technician.
• Factory fitted power cords are coloured in accordance with
the following code:
Green and Yellow = Ground (Earth)
Blue = Neutral
Brown = Line
Note: Plugs and power cords are not supplied with
KM‑1301S_H‑E.
For the UK and the Republic of Ireland Only
For Models with a Plug:
• The non‑rewirable plug must never be used without a fuse
cover being fitted.
• The correct replacement for the detachable fuse cover
is identifiable from the manufacturer's reference number
stamped on the plug.
• Supply of replacement fuse covers can be obtained from
Hoshizaki Parts/Service Centres.
• Fuses should be rated at 13A and approved to BS 1362.
C. Water Supply and Drain Connections
1. Water supply and drain connections must be installed
in accordance with applicable national, state, and
local regulations.
2. The icemaker water supply must be potable water.
3. Normal operating water temperature should be
within 45°F to 90°F (7°C to 32°C). Operation of the
icemaker, for extended periods, outside of this normal
temperature range may affect icemaker performance.
4. Water supply pressure should be a minimum of
10 PSIG (0.7 bar) and a maximum of 113 PSIG
(7.8 bar). If the pressure exceeds 113 PSIG (7.8 bar),
the use of a pressure reducing valve is required.
DO NOT throttle back the supply tap.
5. To prevent damage to equipment, do not operate
the icemaker when the water supply is off, or if the
pressure is below 10 PSIG (0.7 bar). Do not run the
icemaker until the proper water pressure is reached.
• A plumbing permit and services of a licensed plumber may
be required in some areas.
• External filters, strainers, or softeners may be required
depending on water quality. Contact your local Hoshizaki
distributor for recommendations.
• Drain lines should not be piped directly to the sewer
