TROUBLESHOOTING
The engine starts, runs,
and accelerates but will
not idle.
The line will not advance.
The grass wraps around
the drive shaft housing
and the trimmer head.
The air filter is dirty.
The spark plug is worn out.
The engine overheats.
The spark arrestor screen
is dirty.
The idle speed screw
on carburetor needs
adjustment.
The line is welded to itself.
Insufficient cutting line.
The line is worn too short
The line is tangled on the
spool.
The engine speed is too
slow.
Cutting tall grass at the
ground level.
Operating the trimmer at
part throttle.
Clean the air filter. Refer to Cleaning the
Air Filter section in this manual.
Clean or replace the spark plug. Reset
the spark plug gap. Refer to the Spark
Plug Replacement section in this
manual.
Allow the engine to run at idle for 5
minutes. Then stop the trimmer and
allow it to cool for about 20 minutes.
Contact an authorized service dealer.

Lubricate the line with silicone spray.
Install more line. Refer to the Line
Replacement section in this manual.
Tap the trimmer head on the ground. If
the line does not advance, turn off the
trimmer, then pull lines while alternately
pressing down on and releasing the
spool cover.
Remove the line from the spool and
rewind. Refer to the Line Replacement
section in this manual.
Advance the line at full throttle.
Cut tall grass from the top down to
prevent wrapping.
Operate the trimmer at full throttle.
