HOOD SWITCH AND HARNESS INSTALLATION
1. Prior to installation, locate the factory hood switch
connector/harness. If present, it will be taped to the
vehicle wiring harness above the cooling fan on the
right side, forward of the coolant recovery bottle.
If the hood switch connector/harness is not
present, use the supplied wiring harness in the kit
and refer to the next section titled HOOD SWITCH
AND HARNESS INSTALLATION (IF FACTORY
HOOD SWITCH CONNECTOR/HARNESS IS NOT
PRESENT).
2. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable
(1).Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to dis
charge before further service.
3. Detach the hood switch connector/harness (2) from
the vehicle wiring harness and route it to the hood ajar
switch bracket.
NOTE: Selfadjustment of the hood ajar switch
is a onetime feature.
ineffective, removed or requires readjustment, it
must be replaced with a new unit.
4. Position the kit supplied hood ajar switch (1) near the
hole in the mounting bracket.
5. Pull the wire harness connector (2) through the
switch mounting bracket and connect it to the hood
ajar switch (1).
6. From the top of the mounting bracket, press the hood
ajar switch downward (1) into the mounting hole of the
bracket until the integral switch latch tabs lock it into
place.
7. Using the supplied tie wraps in the kit, secure the hood
switch harness (2) to the existing vehicle harness located under the upper radiator crossmember.
