ND 1723-2 61-614 Instructions
WARNING: Verify that the circuit is completely de-energized
(dead) by measuring the circuit voltage to ensure that zero volts
(AC/DC) is present before taking any resistance measurements.
Exposing live voltage to the Ohms circuit by misuse or abuse may
result in injury to the operator and damage to the meter and
equipment under test. The extent of injury and damage will
depend on the level of voltage and current in the circuit.
To Measure Resistance (Ohms):
• Verify the circuit is completely de-energized.
• Set the rotary switch to the highest range in the OHM function.
• Insert the red test lead fully into the Ω input jack on the meter and fully seat
the black test lead into the COM input jack on the meter.
• Short the red and black test lead tips together and adjust the Zero Dial until
the pointer is directly over the zero position on the right end of the Ω labeled
black arc (top arc on the display).
Note: If the pointer cannot be zeroed, then the battery should be replaced.
• Apply the test leads to the component or dead circuit under test.
• Follow the MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE on page 4 to maximize accuracy.
• Read the ohms measurement using the Ω labeled black arc (top arc on the
display).
To Test for Continuity:
• Set the rotary switch to the BUZZ function.
• Insert the red test lead fully into the V input jack on the meter and fully seat
the black test lead into the COM input jack on the meter.
• Short the red and black test lead tips together to obtain an audible beep.
Then, apply the test leads to the circuit or component under test and verify a
beep is present.
Note: If shorting the test leads does not produce an audible beep, then check
the test leads and battery for proper operation.
