ND 1723-2 61-614 Instructions
To Perform a Battery Check:
• Set the rotary switch to the 1.5V or 9V range on the BAT function.
• Insert the red test lead fully into the V input jack on the meter and fully seat the
black test lead into the COM input jack on the meter.
• Apply the red test lead tip to the positive (+) battery contact and the black test
lead tip to the negative (-) battery contact.
• Follow the MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE on page 4 to maximize accuracy.
• Read the pointer position on the BAT labeled arc at the bottom of the display to
determine if the battery is Good or needs to be Replaced.
Note: The meter may not be able to check some 1.5VDC button cell batteries.
To Measure Decibels (dB):
• Set the rotary switch to the 10 range in the ACV function.
• Insert the red test lead fully into the V input jack on the meter and fully seat the
black test lead into the COM input jack on the meter.
• Hold the test leads behind the finger guards and apply the lead tips to the circuit
under test.
• Follow the MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE on page 4 to maximize accuracy and
prevent over-ranging of the pointer.
• Read the decibels measurement using the dB labeled red arc (fourth arc from the
top).
• For measurements above the basic dB range, set the switch to next highest range
on the ACV function and add dB correction as shown on the table in the lower
right of the scale plate on the meter.
Note: To remove the DC components in the circuit under test, connect a 0.1µF
capacitor, or larger, in series with one of the test leads before testing decibels.
