Installing Components
Component replacement for the appliance is documented in the following sections.

Installing Drives
The appliance can be equipped with up to 16 storage drives. The drives are hot-swappable. Depending on
the appliance model and its configuration, some drive bays might be populated with empty drive carriers.
To install a replacement drive in the front drive bay:
1 Open the bezel by rotating it down.
2 Locate the drive you want to replace by device number using the appliance software or by verifying the
drive status LEDs (see "Bezel/SAS Storage" on page 17).
3 Click the eject button of the drive you want to replace. The carrier latch opens and the drive ejects.
Remove the carrier.
4 Insert the replacement drive, with its carrier latch open, in the empty drive bay. Make sure the drive is
oriented with the eject button to the left. Insert the drive all the way by pushing the carrier body until
it clicks into place. Close the carrier latch.
5 Verify the drive's LED turns solid green after it boots.
6 Close the bezel.
Note: The NVMe SSDs on the rear panel can be replaced in the same manner as the front bay drives.
