Kit of tools for the timing on RENAULT
ENGINE 1,5 DCI
Disassembling
• Hold up the engine, remove the right support and the right
engine support bracket.
• Remove the upper distribution guard (fig. 2 ref. A) and the
position sensor of the fuel pump (fig. 2 ref. B)
• Disconnect the fuel hoses from the lower distribution guard
(fig. 2 ref. C).
• Remove the lower distribution guard (fig. 2 ref. D) and the
blank plug from the cylinder block (fig. 2 ref. E).
• Rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the timing notches are
aligned (fig. 2 ref. F)
• Insert the timing pin in the crankshaft (fig. 2 ref. G) and then
move slightly the shaft to verify the right positioning.
• Insert the timing pin in the crankshaft (fig. 2 ref. H)
• Remove the crank and camshaft timing pin, lock the flywheel
with a screwdriver.
• Loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt.
• Remove first the crankshaft pulley bolt and then the pulley.
• Loosen the belt tensioner bolt (fig. 2 ref. I) and the remove
the timing belt.

Assembling
• Insert the crank and camshaft timing pins.
• Verify that the hole for the crankshaft key is turned to the top
(fig. 2 ref. L).
• Control that the timing notch on pulley of the fuel pump is
aligned with the head of the bolt (fig. 2 ref. M).
• Install the belt. The notches on the belt and on the sprockets
have to be aligned (fig. 2 ref. N).
• Rotate the tensioner clockwise until the notch is in the
position like figure (fig. 2 ref. O).
• Tighten the belt tensioner bolt with a couple of 25 Nm with a
6mm socket wrench.
• Install the crankshaft pulley and lock the flywheel with a
screwdriver.
• Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt with a couple of 20 Nm +
130° ±15°.
• Remove the timing pins and then rotate the crankshaft
clockwise twice until the crankshaft and camshaft pulley
notches are aligned (fig. 2 ref. F).
• Insert the crankshaft timing pin moving the crankshaft slightly
to ascertain the good insertion.
• Insert the camshaft pin.
• Remove the tow pins, slack the tensioner bolt max. of a
revolution keeping the 6 mm socket wrench always fastened.
• Turn the socket wrench clockwise until the two notches
(fig. 2 ref. O) and (fig. 2 ref. P) are aligned.
• Tighten the tensioner bolt with a couple of 25 Nm.
