Throttle Operation
(Refer to the Safety Precautions on page 39.)
Cable Inspection
1. Check for smooth rotation of the throttle grip
from the fully open to the fully closed position at
both full steering positions.
2. Inspect the condition of the throttle cable (1)
from the throttle grip down to the carburetor. If
the cable is kinked, chafed or improperly routed,
it should be replaced and/or rerouted.
3. Check the cable for tension or stress at all
steering position. Lubricate the throttle cable
with a commercially available cable lubricant to
prevent premature wear and corrosion.

Free Play Adjustment
Measure the throttle grip free play at the throttle
grip flange.
The standard free play should be approximately:
2 – 6 mm (0.1 – 0.2 in)
To adjust the free play, slide the throttle cable boot (2),
then loosen the lock nut (3) and turn the adjuster (4).
If proper throttle free play cannot achieved, contact
your Honda dealer.
