The hat fits!
If the player thinks they have found the right hat for the pixie who's currently in
the game and standing on the hats square, they put the hat on the pixie for the
other players to see.
If the player is right, they can keep the hat and pixie. This pixie is now 'safe' and
can no longer be put in the game if another pixie lands on the start square. The
player's turn is now ended; they must wait until it's their turn again, when they
take the next pixie from their team and place it on the start square in the next
round!
If the player is wrong, they put the hat back and carry on playing with this pixie as
before. If the player thinks they have found the hat that matches one of their pixies
who is not in the game, they try to remember the positions. They have to wait to
uncover and put them on the right pixie once it's in the game! It's the next player's
turn; they roll the dice and play as described.
No-one gets 'kicked out' of the game. If two or more pixies end up on the same
square, they are simply stacked on top of each other. When it's the turn of the one
at the bottom, they are carefully removed from the pile.
Rolling a six does not mean you can roll again!
At the end
The game ends as soon as a player is able to reunite his three pixies with the right
hats.
Version: Pixie mix!
Play is as above, but the pixie is always swapped out as soon as it crosses the start
square.
Example:
The pixie starts 3 squares behind the start square. The player rolls a 5.
They move the 'old' pixie 3 squares to the start line and then take it off the board.
They then put a 'new' pixie from their team on the start square, move it the
remaining 2 squares and carry out the action.
Every pixie has to be swapped out after one round, regardless of whether
it has found its hat or not. The player is free to choose which of his two other pixies
starts next. Obviously, pixies who already have a hat are not put back in the game.
If, in the previous round, the player felt the surface of a pixie who is no longer in
the game, they can put it back in the game in order to reunite it quicker with its
hat.
However, this version requires more flexibility, as the player has to adjust to looking
for a new surface.
