Appliance's range of uses
Steaming
For example vegetables, potatoes

Fill the steamer up to the lower marking and
preheat the appliance to the steam cooking
setting position ¥.

Put the cooking insert with the food into the
appliance. If you wish to use two cooking inserts
at the same time, first put the perforated insert
into the appliance and then the unperforated
insert over it.

Put the glass cover back on. You can accentuate
the flavor of the food by replacing the water with a
liquid that fits the food (e.g. vegetable bouillon,
fish stock, meat broth).
Boiling
For example pasta
▯
Fill the steamer up to the overflow edge at the
most and preheat the appliance to the steam
cooking setting position ¥.
▯
We recommend that you put on the glass cover.
Use the pasta basket (accessory FK 023 000).
Blanching
For example vegetables
▯
Fill the steamer up to the lower marking and
preheat the appliance to the steam cooking
setting position ¥.
▯
Put the vegetables into the unperforated cooking
insert.
▯
After 1 - 2 minutes, put the vegetables into ice
water to cool them down quickly. Let the
vegetables drip dry.
Simmering
For example sausage
▯
Fill the cooking basin up to the overflow edge at
the most.
▯
Turn the temperature control knob to a
temperature between 100 and 200°F and preheat
the steamer.
▯
We recommend that you put on the glass cover.
Use the pasta basket (accessory FK 023 000).
Keeping warm
For example meat, vegetables, side dishes
▯
Fill the steamer up to the lower marking.
▯
Set the temperature control knob to 170 - 190°F
and preheat the steamer.
▯
Put the cooking insert with the food into the
appliance.
▯
Put the glass cover back on. This is a good way to
keep the food in the cooking inserts warm and
preserve its taste over a longer period of time.
Reheating
For example, single dishes of food, already prepared
meals
▯
Fill the steamer up to the lower marking and
preheat the appliance to the steam cooking
setting position ¥.
▯
Put your prepared food into the appropriate
cooking insert and set the temperature control
knob back to the desired temperature (180 -
200°F). Put the glass cover back on.
Juice extraction
For example soft fruit
▯
Fill the steamer up to the lower marking and
preheat the appliance to the steam cooking
setting position ¥.
▯
Put the fruit into the perforated cooking insert.
▯
First put the unperforated cooking insert into the
appliance and then the perforated cooking insert
with the fruit over it.
▯
Steam until no more juice comes out.
Canning
For example fruit, vegetables
▯
Fill the steamer up to the lower marking.
▯
Place the jars in the cooking insert such that they
don't touch each other.
▯
Turn the temperature control knob to the steam
cooking position ¥.
▯
Turn the appliance off as soon as little bubbles
form and rise.
▯
Take the jars out of the appliance once it has
completely cooled down.
Disinfecting
For example baby bottles, jam jars
▯
Fill the steamer up to the lower marking and
preheat the appliance to the steam cooking
setting position.
▯
Put the baby bottles or jam jars into the
unperforated cooking insert. Put the glass cover
on.
▯
Steam for 20 minutes.
