Permeation is the process by which a chemical moves
through protective clothing material on a molecular level.
The permeation tests are carried out according to both the
European standard EN 369:1993 and EN 374-3 as well as
the American standard ASTM F 739. The clothing material is
exposed to the challenging chemical in a permeation cell so that
breakthrough times and permeation rates can be measured.
