Knee Hinges by Mediroyal
As a part of the update of the knee brace program we
have designed three new hinges with different functionality.
They are all manufactured of a special aluminum alloy
A6061, used in the aircraft industry. The A6061 alloy is
strong, lightweight, durable and corrosion resistant.

Model program
All models have the same dimensions and can be
exchanged within the different knee braces. The ROM-
hinge is also available in a longer model.
General Precautions · The Mediroyal hinges are all
mechanical stabilization elements to further stabilize the
knee, primarily in extension and sideways. In order to
prevent pressure problems and to get a better stability,
always shape the hinge to the contour of the knee.
These hinges are not designed for flexion problem that
requires a full body loaded flexion control. In that case,
turn to an orthotic workshop for a custom solution.
Mediroyal Double Hinge
– Standard Length MR4996, 33 cm
This is a lightweight and strong double hinge with a pre-set
0 degree extension stop. The hinge arms are made of
A6061 aluminum and the center part from stainless steel.
Teflon washers over the rivets provide a great grease free
®
lubrication. The hinge is black coated for more corrosion
resistance. The hinge arms can be shaped individually by
using bending irons.
Mediroyal Active Hinge
– Standard Length MR4997, 33 cm
This hinge has been designed for activity. It's lightweight,
low profile, easy to adjust, durable and has a bilateral
design. The range of motion can be set by using
composite stops for extension and flexion. The complete
hinge is made from A6061 aluminum. Teflon
provide a grease free lubrication. The hinge is black
coated for more corrosion resistance. The hinge arms can
be shaped individually by using bending irons.
Extension/Flexion · The light weight composite stops can
easily be applied to control extension and flexion. The "E"-
marked stops are for extension and "F"-marked stops for
flexion. The following options are available:

Adjustment · To set the range of motion, select the right

by positioning the "E"-marked stop on the EXT side of the
hinge. Open the hinge slightly and push the stop in. Then
do the same for flexion by positioning the "F"-marked stop
on the FLX side of the hinge. Make sure to set both hinges
with the same extension and flexion stops. Try the stops
before applying the hinge into the brace.
Mediroyal ROM Hinge
– Standard Length MR4998, 33 cm
– Long Length MR4999, 40 cm
The Mediroyal ROM hinge has been designed to control
the knee range of motion during rehabilitation. It can be set
in both extension and flexion and can also be blocked. The
complete hinge is made from A6061 aluminum, the stop
pins are made from CNC-milled stainless steel. Teflon
washers provide a grease free lubrication. The hinge is
black coated for more corrosion resistance. The hinge
arms can be shaped individually by using bending irons.
Extension/Flexion · The ROM hinge can be set in the
following configurations:

The hinge is easy to adjust, even when it's on the knee.
No tools or parts are needed and the design is bilateral.
Adjustment · The cover has a red spring-loaded safety
lock. Pull that to the side to open the cover. The hinge is
marked with extension and flexion. Remove the metal pin
and set in the desired location. If no flexion is needed,
position the pins in the "Full range" position. Make sure
that you adjust both the extension and flexion sides the
same. One the setting has been done, make sure that the
pins are securely positioned and close the cover. Make
sure that the safety lock snaps in place before you fully
load the hinge.
