► Engage self-propulsion.
The drive is engaged and the drive shaft
rotates.
► If self-propulsion does not engage:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL
specialist dealer.
The clutch lever for self-propulsion is defec‐
tive.
Clutch lever for reverse gear
► Start the engine.
► Set gear 0/R.
► Unlock the clutch lever for reverse gear, press
upwards and hold.
► Engage self-propulsion.

► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL

Clutch lever for lateral adjustment
► Unlock the clutch lever for lateral adjustment,
press upwards and hold.
The handlebar can be adjusted laterally.
► If the handlebar cannot be adjusted:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL
specialist dealer.
The clutch lever for lateral adjustment or
cable is defective.
Main switch
► Start the engine.
► Set the main switch to the 0 position.
The engine cuts out.
► If the engine does not cut out:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL
specialist dealer.
The main switch is defective.
Throttle lever
► Start the engine.
► Move the throttle lever.
The engine speed changes.
► If the engine speed does not change:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL
specialist dealer.
The throttle lever is defective.
Gear lever
► Engage gear 0/R, 1 and 2.
► If one of the gears cannot be engaged:
► Do not use the tiller and consult a STIHL
specialist dealer.
The gear lever is defective.

Light switch
► Start the engine.
► Press the On switch.
The headlamp comes on.
► Press the Off switch.
The headlamp goes off.
► If the headlamp does not come on:
► Check whether the headlamp is defective.
► If the headlamp is not working:

specialist dealer.
The light switch is defective.

Removing the Front Wheel
► Remove the front wheel before starting work,

Adjusting the Blade Spur
The blade spur can be adjusted in eight stages.
► Loosen bolts (1).
► Detach retaining pin (2) and remove pin (3).
► Move blade spur (4) into the desired position.
► Insert pin (3).
► Push retaining pin (2) through the bore in
pin (3).
► Tighten bolts (1) firmly.

Using the PTO Drive
► Stop the engine.
► Unscrew screws (1).
► Remove cover (2).
The screws (1) remain attached to cover (2).
