Setting the flexion / extension limits
Only to be carried out by an
orthopedic technician.
Extension limit wedge, EXT (limits
extension): 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°
Flexion limit wedge, FLEX (limits flexion):
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, 90°
Can be immobilised at:
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°
For immobilising the orthosis first insert
the flexion wedge and then the
corresponding extension wedge.
The medial (inside) and the lateral
(outside) wedge settings must

3. The replacement wedges are included
in the set of wedges labelled with R

the respective degree settings.
4. Firstly, insert the new flexion wedge
and then the extension wedge into

the same process at the other joint.
WARNING: Extension and flexion
wedges must always be inserted
together.
5. Move the brace joints to check that
the wedges are positioned securely.
Important notes
Only change the extension and flexion
limits on instruction from your doctor or
orthotist.
In order to prevent hyperextension,
always insert extension stops or 0° stops.
The stops define the exact excursion of
the orthosis. In difficult soft-tissue
conditions, e.g. where the soft-tissues are
under com pres sion, it may be necessary
to insert a larger stop to limit the joint
movement to the desired excursion. In
addition, make sure that the orthosis
hinges are correctly positioned: the
middles of the hinges should be in one
line with the upper border of the patella.
The hinge must lie behind the midline of
the leg.
