CONNECTION AND OPERATION
A spectacular lighting system can be composed of different types of lighting devices: spotlights, LED
effects, lasers, strobes, etc. In order to control these devices, the devices must support commands
following the DMX 512 protocol. These devices can be assigned a DMX address between 0 and 192
through which they can receive orders from the DMX-83 controller.
To assign each device a valid DMX address, you must consult the device's operating instructions.
Typically, there will be a DIP switch or display where you can manually assign an address. The table below
shows the DIP switch positions for assigning a particular DMX address.
The DMX-83 controller has 12 scanners to facilitate the arrangement of the devices within its 192 channels.
These scanners correspond to fixed addresses separated by 16 channels. Below are the the scanner
addresses and microswitches that must be activated in a device with standard DMX configuration.
Note: Check your device's instruction manual to see if it requires a standard DMX configuration or a different
one
