2.4 Personnel qualifications
The work described in this documentation requires basic electrical and pneu-
matic knowledge, as well as knowledge of the appropriate technical terms. In or-
der to ensure safe use, these activities may therefore only be carried out by quali-
fied technical personnel or an instructed person under the direction and supervi-
sion of qualified personnel.
Qualified personnel are those who can recognize possible dangers and institute
the appropriate safety measures, due to their professional training, knowledge,
and experience, as well as their understanding of the relevant regulations per-
taining to the work to be done. Qualified personnel must observe the rules rele-
vant to the subject area.
2.5 General safety instructions
• Observe the safety notes found in your bus coupler's system description.
Products with Ethernet connection are designed to be used on specific industrial
control networks. Observe the following safety measures:
• Always follow industry best practices for network segmentation.
• Avoid exposing products with Ethernet connection directly to the Internet.
• Minimize internet and business network exposure for all control system de-
vices and/or control systems.
• Ensure that products, control system devices and/or control systems are not
accessible from the Internet.
• Locate control networks and remote devices behind firewalls and isolate them
from the business network.
• If remote access is required, only use secure methods such as Virtual Private
Networks (VPNs).
NOTICE! Recognize that VPNs and other software-based products may have
vulnerabilities. A VPN is only as secure as the connected devices it serves. Al-
ways use the current version of the VPN, the firewall and other software-based
products.
• Ensure that the latest released software and firmware versions are installed on
all products connected to the network.
3 Establishing a connection to the web server
3.1 PROFINET IO
Requirement:
In your valve system, you use an AES bus coupler for PROFINET IO (R412018223).
Risk due to misuse!
The web server in the AES module is a tool for the implementation phase and
to update the module software.
1. Make sure that the machine is in a safe state while you are working with the
web server.
2. Never use the web server for permanent monitoring.
To establish a connection with the AES module web server, you can either con-
nect the AES module directly to a PC or to the fieldbus.
3.1.1 Connecting the AES module to the PC
To connect the AES module to a PC, you need an Ethernet cable with the follow-
ing connections:
• RJ45 plug for connection to the computer
• M12 plug (male), D-coded, for connection to the bus coupler
In addition, you need a power supply line with an M12, A-coded plug (female).
Refer to the bus coupler system description for more information on the M12
plug assignment.
1. Set your computer's IP address to a free address on your preferred subnet.

NOTICE
2. Connect the AES module to your computer's EtherNet interface and switch
the AES module on.
The "RUN/BF" LED flashes green.
3. Assign the AES module an IP address. This IP address must be on the same
subnet as your computer's IP address. However, it must not be identical to
your computer's IP address.
To assign an IP address, you can either use the PROFINET IO tool (e.g.
the Siemens "Primary Setup Tool") or the "Browse & Config Tool". You
can get the "Browse & Config Tool" from AVENTICS Sales.
4. Use a web browser to exchange data between the PC and the AES module
web server. In the address bar, enter the IP address of the AES module.
You are now connected to the web server.
3.1.2 Connecting the AES module to the PROFINET IO network
Error due to unqualified personnel!
Connection and configuration errors result in disruptions in PROFINET IO com-
munication.
Connection and configuration may therefore only be carried out by quali-
u
fied personnel (see g 2.4. Personnel qualifications ).
Connect a PC to your PROFINET IO network.
u
If the network does not have a DHCP server, you must first assign your computer
a free IP address from the subnet and the subnet mask.
1. Switch the PROFINET IO system on and put it in a safe state.
