Tips for Energy Saving
■ Do not put hot food in the freezer. Let it cool down first.
■ If the electricity goes out, do not open the appliance door.
■ Do not open the door frequently or leave it open for extended periods.
■ Do not set the thermostat to exceedingly cold temperatures.
6/ CLEANING AND CARE
WARNING! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Before performing any cleaning or
maintenance on the appliance, switch off and unplug the appliance from the
power outlet.
WARNING! Any electrical work required during the servicing of the appliance
should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person.
WARNING! This product must be serviced by an authorised Service Centre and
only genuine spare parts must be used.
IMPORTANT: Ethereal oils and organic solvents can damage plastic parts. Do not use
additives such as lemon juice or the juice from orange peel, butyric acid, or a cleanser
that contains acetic acid. Do not use any abrasive cleansers. Do not use wire brushes,
scouring pads to clean the appliance. Never use metal or sharp objects (e.g. knives or
forks) to remove ice. Use a plastic scraper.
6.1 CLEANING
■ Wipe the exterior of the freezer with a soft cloth moistened with lukewarm water
and wipe it dry.
■ Wipe the interior of the freezer with soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent
solution, or a solution of one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to one pint of
water. Wipe off with a clean moist cloth and wipe dry.
■ Remove ice deposits in the freezer on a regular basis using a plastic ice scraper
available from your local store. Large accumulation of ice deposits will impair
the performance of the freezer. Clean and defrost your freezer regularly
(→ DEFROSTING THE FREEZER).
■ Check door seals regularly to ensure they are clean and free from food particles.
■ If the freezer is not going to be used for a long period of time, unplug, empty,
defrost, clean and dry it. Leave the door ajar to prevent mould from developing
inside.
NOTE: In humid weather, it is normal to see water droplets or frost on the freezer
collar or door gasket. In this case, wipe them off with a dry cloth.

6.2 DEFROSTING THE FREEZER

Defrost your freezer twice a year or when a frost layer of around 0.7 cm has formed.
WARNING! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Before defrosting and cleaning the
appliance, switch off and unplug the appliance from the power outlet. Never
clean the appliance with a steam cleaner. Moisture could accumulate in electrical
components presenting a danger of electrical shock. Hot vapours can damage the
plastic components of the appliance. The appliance must be completely dry before it
is used again.
