Application
For assembly of product follow illustrations, for disas-

sembly reverse the assembly procedure.
Remove blade cover before use.

Do not use the product to cut walls.

Never operate the product while people, especially chil-

dren or pets, are nearby.
The user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring
u
to other people or their property.
Always wear long heavy trousers, boots and gloves. Do
u
not wear loose clothing, jewellery, short trousers, sandals
and never work barefoot. Tie long hair together over
shoulder height to prevent entanglement in moving parts.
Thoroughly inspect the area where the machine is to be
u
used and remove all stones, sticks, wires, bones and
other foreign objects.
Do not operate the product in areas where live cables may
u
be present.
Before using, always visually inspect to see that the blade
u
or blade nut are not worn or damaged. Replace worn or
damaged blade and nut in sets to preserve balance.
Work only in daylight or in good artificial light.

Avoid operating the product in bad weather conditions

especially when there is a risk of lightning.
For your safety, please take care whilst operating the

product in wet grass/brush.
Walk, never run and stay in a stable position while work-
u
ing with the product.
Keep firm footing and balance. Do not overreach.

Wear safety eye protection and hearing protection

when operating the product.
Never operate the product with missing or broken guards,

kickback protection or covers.
Do not operate the product with the cutting blade in close

proximity to the mains/extension cable.
Always check the product for signs of wear or damage be-

If an accident occurs, unplug the product from the mains

supply before before taking any other action.
Never operate the product when you are tired, ill or under

the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicine.
Working on banks can be dangerous.

Do not work on excessively steep slopes.
Always be sure of your footing on slopes or wet grass.
Mow across the face of slopes and never up and down.
− Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on
slopes.
Do not put hands or feet near the cutting system.

Switch off when transporting the product to and from the
u
area to be worked on.
Switch the product off and pull the mains plug from the
u
socket outlet.
− whenever you leave the product unattended for a
period of time
− before removing blockages
− if the cable is entangled
− before replacing the cutting device
− when checking, cleaning or working on the product
−after a collision with a foreign object; check the product
immediately for damage and replace the cutter if neces-
sary
− if the product starts to vibrate abnormally (check imme-
diately)
Wait until the rotating cutting element has completely
u
stopped before touching it. The cutting element contin-
ues to rotate after the trimmer is switched off; a rotating
cutting element can cause injury.
Do not modify the product. Unauthorized modifications
u
may impair the safety of your product and may result in
increased noise and vibration.
Store the product in a secure, dry place out of the reach
u
of children. Do not place other objects on top of the
product.
Use only the Bosch garden tool accessories recommen-
u
ded and approved to be used on this product.
Prolonged use of the product (or other machines) expos-
u
ing the operator to vibrations may produce white finger
disease (Raynaud's phenomenon) or carpal tunnel syn-
drome.
These conditions reduce the hand's ability to feel and reg-
u
ulate temperature, can lead to numbness and burning
sensations and may cause nerve and circulation damage
and tissue necrosis.
Contact your doctor if you experience symptoms of over-
u
exposure to vibration. These symptoms include numb-
ness, loss of feeling, tingling, pricking, pain, loss of
strength, changes in skin colour or condition. These
symptoms normally appear in the fingers, hands or
wrists.
Always use the product with the right attachment. Always
u
hold the product by the front and rear handles, and if ne-
cessary, limit the working time.
Beware that the product may kick back when a blade sud-
u
denly strikes a hard object or when cutting brush or scrub
vegetation. Take care to minimise the effects of kickback.
This product is designed for use with a shoulder strap.

Adjust the shoulder strap so that the product is correctly
balanced to reduce operator fatigue.
For transport and storage, always protect the cutting
u
blade with a suitable cover.
Keep power cords clear from the cutting tool.
