CAUTION!
Read the following instructions carefully. Failure to do so can result in electric shock, fire or serious damage.
2.2.1
Workplace safety
•
Only use the shear in good visibility conditions. A dimly lit work area may cause accidents. Do not perform cuts in poor
light conditions, like in the dark in closed or open environments, at night, at dusk, at dawn or with dust / sand in the air
impeding clear visibility below 2 metres. Check if the visibility is acceptable by placing the product 2 metres away with
the labels showing, and see if you can read them clearly.
•
Do not use the shear in an explosive, flammable or damp environment.
•
Keep children, observers or animals at a safe distance before activating the shear in order to avoid hazards or injuries.
When determining the safety distance, evaluate the risk of taut branches being thrown towards persons, property or
animals. The appropriate safety distance under normal tension is 5 metres from the ends of the branches.
2.2.2
Electrical safety
•
The battery charger supplied must be used on a socket that is compatible in terms of amperage and power supply. Do
not make any changes to either the plug or the socket.
•
Before, during and/or after use in the rain, do not expose the shear to damp environments, water or any other humid
conditions, in order to prevent electric shocks or short circuits.
•
Keep the shear away from heat sources, oil, solvents, sharp edges or moving parts.
2.3
Use
•
Use the tool only for the purposes described in par. "Product description". Any other use can cause accidents and is
specifically forbidden by the Manufacturer.
•
Never use the tool if it is damaged, wrongly regulated or only partially assembled.
•
Store the shear with the blade unit (1-2) closed.
•
Wear protective goggles or a face shield, safety shoes, anti-vibration gloves and ear muffs (par. 3.8).
•
Get into a stable and safe working position, which guarantees perfect balance (for example a flat and dry surface).
•
The lit display (9) indicates that the tool is operational.
•
Do not expose the tool to rain. Keep it in a dry place.
•
Do not use a battery charger other than the one supplied by the Manufacturer. Failure to comply with this requirement
may result in serious damage to the tool and the user.
•
When the shear is not in use, remove the battery and store it in a clean, dry place.
2.4
Maintenance
CAUTION!
Before performing any maintenance operations or mechanical adjustments on the tool, wear heavy-duty work
shoes, protective gloves and goggles.
•
Routine maintenance and repairs can be carried out only by an operator with the necessary physical and intellectual
qualifications as defined by the employer.
•
Extraordinary maintenance work (e.g. dismantling the gearbox or the control electronics) or repairs must be performed
by a mechanical or electric/electronic maintenance technician.
•
Disconnect the tool from the battery before any adjustment or maintenance.
•
Unauthorised personnel must keep at least 2 metres away from the tool during maintenance or repair operations.
•
Only qualified maintenance engineers may disable the safety devices (if any) when extraordinary maintenance is to
be performed. It is their responsibility to safeguard the operators and the tool. The safety devices should be re-activated
as soon as maintenance work has been completed.
•
All maintenance procedures not dealt with in this manual are to be performed at the Manufacturer's Authorised Service
Centres.
•
When maintenance or repairs have been completed, the tool can be started again only if duly authorised by a mechan-
ical maintenance technician, who must make sure that:
-
work has been completed;
-
the equipment works perfectly;
-
the safety devices are activated;
-
no one is working on the equipment.
