6 Clean-in-Place
After a filtration process with the adapter, a clean-in-place must be
performed to clean the liquid lines from any residual liquid left from the
filtration process. The CIP block is delivered with adapter.
Requirements
— The filter has been removed and discarded (see chapter 5.2,
page 13).
— The operator is prompted to load the CIP block onto the device on the
screen of the control unit.
Procedure
Unclip the outer part (1) of the filter holder.

Remove the 3 Luer caps on the CIP block for the retentate, permeate

and feed ports.
Insert the CIP block into the filter holder.

Clip the outer part of the filter holder onto the first inner part already in
t
place. Connect the Luer fittings to the corresponding ports on the CIP
block. To do this:
Engage the Luer tapers into the corresponding ports of the CIP
t
block. Screw in the Luer lock rings on the Luer fittings.
Make sure the Luer taper (1) is securely engaged inside the corre-
t
sponding female Luer on the CIP block by giving an additional push
and twist. Make sure to hold on to the Luer fitting when doing so and
not the compression fitting.
Make sure that each feed, retentate and permeate port on the adapt-
t
er is connected to the corresponding port on the CIP block.
Follow the prompts on the screen of the control unit to carry out the
t
clean-in-place protocol.
