3.2. WORKING WITH THE DEVICE
FILLING
1)
Make sure that there is no pressure in the device.
The pressure can be released by means of the valve
located on the side of the pump.
2)
Unscrew the cap on the top of the unit and fill the unit
with new brake fluid. Make sure that no old fluid or
debris remains in the tank.
HANDLING
1)
Install the adapter (3) on the brake fluid expansion
tank.
2)
Connect the adapter with a hose to the bleeding
device(1).
3)
Connect the old fluid container (2) with all accessories
attached to the brake calliper bleed screw.
Pour the new brake fluid into the refilling tank of the
bleeding device, and then pump with the handle to
build up the correct pressure in the tank (2-3 bar).
Important: If it is necessary to build up over 3 bar
pressure in the pump to replace the brake fluid, you
must first check the brake system for possible damage
and leaks.
Unscrew the brake calliper breather - this will make
the new fluid flow from the instrument to the brake
system, and at the same time the old fluid will flow
into the used bottle along with air trapped in the
system (bubbles).
When you can see that the new fluid is flowing onto
the old one in the bottle and no air bubbles come out
of the vent, close the brake vent.
Repeat the process for all other wheels - starting with
the wheel furthest away from the master cylinder and
then ending with the wheel closest to the master
cylinder.
Note: Brake fluid should be added to the correct level.
Too much or too little fluid has a negative effect on the
operation of the braking system and, consequently,
driving safety.
4)
When the process is complete, release the pressure by
pressing the vent valve on the side of the pump. After
releasing, disconnect the fluid supply hose from the
adapter on the master cylinder.
Note: Do not disconnect the adapter until the pressure
is released.
5)
If necessary, refill the brake fluid in the tank to the
maximum level - see the scale on the expansion tank
2
for the brake servo. Install the expansion tank cap on
the master cylinder.
6)
Safely dispose of the used brake fluid.
Note: the brake fluid is harmful to the paintwork of the
vehicle and toxic to the environment!
NOTE
Be especially careful when working with brake fluid. It is
corrosive and highly poisonous to the environment. If it is
spilt on the paintwork, it should be washed quickly with
e.g. gasoline and wiped dry; otherwise, it will permanently
3
damage the surface. The same goes for plastics. Wear
safety glasses and gloves to avoid skin contact.
Only new brake fluid may be used, used brake fluid or
other fluids will contaminate the system and may lead to
a decrease in its performance and even cause the brake
system to fail.
