Studies have reached the conclusion that there is no great difference in
performance between metal and brick-cement chimneys. You will have to choose one or
the other.
Whenever possible, build your chimney inside the house; this will provide better
draw, lower creosote accumulation and a longer life.
The advantages of brick chimneys include:
a) Fumes cool off more slowly inside the chimney due to the mass of bricks and
tiles.
b) As bricks accumulate heat, the house keeps warm longer after the fire is put out.
c) It can be built to the specific requirements of each person.
d) If well built, it will be more resistant to fire than metal chimneys.
Brick chimneys must be well lined to prevent the fumes from losing temperature.
They must be built with materials that support high temperatures and corrosion.
They may be round, square...., what matters is their size.
Brickwork chimneys for the Built-in Fireplace H-03 must comply with the
measurements indicated in the chapter on TECHNICAL DATA.
The advantages of metal chimneys include:
a) Easy installation.
b) It is possible to change the direction of the chimney slightly, which
provides greater flexibility when deciding where the fireplace should be installed.
c) Curved joints can be used, which eliminates acute angles that have a
negative effect on draw.

Figure 3a): Tubing from exterior: the recommended solution for connecting the
wood burner to the chimney of the building. Tubing from interior: recommended when the
height of the chimney exceed 6m in height. (In the chimney of the building normally
the first metre of tubing is used for connecting the chimney of the building, then
continuing just with this. In this first metre of tubing generally the pull is good and
no condensation is produced).
Figure 3b): Solution recommended when there is the risk of excessive cooling of the
smoke in the chimney, with the possible formation of condensation. (In installation with
metal chimneys, the smoke can cool and produce condensation, to prevent this,
chimneys with a wider diameter are used which facilitate the outlet of smoke).
