Storage
If the hammer is not used for a period of more than
14 days, the following action must be taken to pro-
tect the hammer:
•
Clean the hammer carefully.
•
Detach the chisel.
•
Loosen the connecting nipples P and T, and
press the piston in as far as it will go. Close the
connecting nipples.
•
Lubricate the chisel bushing carefully.
•
Detach the bushing's dust guard.
If stored for a long time, the hammer must be kept in
an upright position. If it is stored horizontally the pis-
ton seals become deformed and ineffective.
NB. Make sure that the hammer cannot fall over.
Charging/checking the piston
accumulator.
!
WARNING
The accumulator may be charged with
NITROGEN (N
) only!
2
Use of other gases can cause an explosion.
CP supplies a service box containing all necessary
tools and parts required to service the piston accu-
mulator. Order no. 3363 4910 04.
If the hammer's performance begins to deteriorate,
we recommend that you check the pressure in the
piston accumulator.
NB. The pressure must be checked with the hammer
at a working temperature of 60º-70ºC.
To measure the pressure, bring down the hammer
with no pressure on the chisel. Detach the plug from
the charge valve (G) and connect the test pressure
gauge.
The piston accumulator only needs to be filled if the
pressure falls below the minimum level.
Filling, see fig. 7.
•
Connect pressure relief valve (B) to gas canister
valve (A).
•
Connect gas hose (C) to pressure relief valve (B)
as shown in fig.
•
Close pressure relief valve (B). Open gas canis-
ter valve (A).
•
Remove the plug from the filler valve (G).
•
Guide the nozzle of the gas hose (C) into the fil-
ler valve (G).
•
Carefully open the pressure relief valve (B) and fill
the piston accumulator. Read the pressure on the
pressure gauge (D).
•
Close the pressure relief valve when the desired
pressure +10% has been reached.
•
Pull the gas hose out of the filler valve (G) and fit
the plug.
•
Close gas canister valve (A).
Checking and reducing the gas pressure,
see fig. 8.
•
When checking the gas pressure, you must use
the gas hose (C) and the pressure gauge (D).
•
Connect the gas hose to the pressure gauge.
•
Remove the plug from the filler valve (G).
•
Press the nozzle of the gas hose into the filler val-
ve and read the pressure.
•
Reduce the pressure by repeatedly inserting and
removing the nozzle.
NB. Only the nozzle may be used to reduce the
pressure. Never use pins, screwdrivers, etc., as the-
se can damage the charge valve.
Changing the chisel, (Fig. 4)
!
CAUTION
The carrier's engine must be switched off
when tools are being changed. Bear in mind
that the chisel may remain hot for a long
time after work has finished.
•
Knock out the locking pin using a suitable tool and
detach the chisel holder.
•
Detach the chisel.
•
Check that the chisel holder and the locking pin
are not damaged or worn. Replace if required.
•
Before assembly, the chisel shank must be clea-
ned and lubricated. The chisel holder must also
be lubricated.
•
Attach the chisel.
•
Turn the chisel until the chisel holder can be fit-
ted.
•
Secure the chisel holder with the locking pin.
