ANY TAMPERING OF THE SMART CHC ADAPTER BY UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS ANNULS THE GUARANTEE.
2.2 - Installation compatibility
Quick
windlasses
®
All Quick
windlasses are already equipped with the sensor (and related magnet) compatible with use of the SMART CHC
®
gauge.
To increase the device's precision, more magnets can be installed on the same gypsy. Position the magnets at the same
circumference and at equal distances from each other.
Other windlasses
Operation of the SMART CHC requires a Reed-type magnet sensor installed on the windlass and one or more magnets
installed on the gypsy. If the windlass is not equipped with these accessories, the optional installation kit may be
requested (sold separately).
2.3 - Before installation
A typical installation procedure is described below. Adapt the procedure described here to your own requirements.
• Disconnect the main power supply to prevent a short circuit. Make sure the
power supply cannot be reconnected unintentionally.
• Position the gauge in a spot where it is easy to use and/or can be seen by the
operator.
• Make sure the surface on which the gauge is mounted is flat and smooth.
• Tightening the ring-nut on a curved surface could damage the gauge and
compromise the seal of the gasket (O-ring).
• Leave enough space behind the mounting opening to accommodate the gauge
and connecting cable.
The SMART CHC gauge complies with EMC standards (electromagnetic compatibility) but requires correct installation to
avoid compromising its performance and that of the instruments in the vicinity.
Position the gauge at a distance greater than:
• 25 cm from the compass;
• 50 cm from any radio receiving device;
• 1 m from any radio transmitting device (excluding SSB);
• 2 m from any SSB radio transmitting device;
• 2 m from the radar beam path.
