Maintenance work
7. Remove the visor from the rubber frame (see figure B2 on
the fold-out page).
8. Centre the new visor when inserting and make sure that it
is properly seated in the mask body.
Moistening either the mask body or the visor frame
facilitates assembly.
Note the centre marking on the visor.
9. Apply pressure to the visor frame until it snaps into place
at the centre of the visor.
● Full face mask: Then tighten with new self-locking
screws until the gap is closed.
● Mask/helmet combination: Place the mask/helmet
adapter onto the mounted visor frame, then tighten
with new self-locking screws until the gap is closed.
10. Align the wiper: the wiper arm must be in the centre of the
visor and the wiper must align correctly with the visor after
assembly.
11. If necessary, adjust the drinking valve.
12. Hook the cap into place on the button, place it over the
drinking valve if necessary, and then hook it into the visor
frame.
13. If necessary, pull the covering cap of the drinking valve
with the frame over the drinking valve and mount it to the
cap.
14. Mount the wiper handle, then fasten the three screws
(recommended torque: 60+5 Ncm).
®
15. Use Loctite
221 to secure the screw at the wiper handle.
16. If necessary, put the covering cap on the drinking valve.
3.10 Replacing the inner mask
Replace the inner mask (see figure D on the fold-out page):
1. To disconnect the inner mask, take hold of the inner mask
at the tip of the nose, pull it off the cam and remove it all
around from the speech diaphragm groove.
2. To attach and centre it, place the tip of the nose of the
inner mask on the cam. Insert the ring of the inner mask
into the groove in the speech diaphragm, first at the
bottom and then all around.
3.11 Replacing the inner mask control
valve discs (FPS 7000 RA/PE/ESA/P)
The valve discs and valve seats must be clean and
undamaged. Otherwise clean them or replace the valve discs.
3.12 Replacing the head harness
NOTICE
A hairnet can also be used instead of the head harness. The
hairnet has the same clips as the head harness.
1. Remove the head harness as follows (see figure G-1 on
the fold-out page):
a. Turn the head harness away from the flap on the
mask.
b. Push the clip on the head harness towards the visor.
2. Attach the head harness to the mask as follows (see
figure G-2 on the fold-out page):
a. Place the clip on the mask flap and push it onto the
latch.
16
b. Make sure that the nose on the flap is correctly
engaged in the hole in the clip.
3.13 Replacing the wiper (FPS 7000 RP)
CAUTION
► If you do not remove the wiper arm, but only turn the wiper
and pull it off the wiper arm, the wiper arm may become
bent. This can impair the correct functioning of the wiper. If
the wiper must be replaced, always remove the wiper arm
as follows.
1. If necessary, remove the covering cap of the drinking
valve and then remove it from the cap together with the
frame.
2. Loosen the screws (see figure F-1 on the fold-out page)
and remove the wiper handle (see figure E-6 on the fold-
out page).
3. Unhook the cap from the visor frame, then remove it from
the front port by pulling it upwards over the drinking valve.
The drinking valve remains in the front port.
4. Remove the button (see figure E-3 on the fold-out page)
from the front port.
To do so, push apart the springs (see figure E-7 on the
fold-out page), then remove the button from the front port.
5. Loosen the clip (see figure E-4 on the fold-out page) with a
screwdriver, then remove it from the front port.
6. Remove the wiper shaft (see figure E-5 on the fold-out
page) from the front port.
7. Remove the mouthpiece if necessary.
8. Disconnect the inner mask.
9. Remove the wiper (see figure E-1 on the fold-out page)
from the FPS 7000 RP.
10. Tilt the wiper 180°.
11. Use needle-nose pliers to push the wiper from the wiper
arm.
12. Attach a new wiper to the wiper arm and tilt it by 180° so
that the wiper is aligned with the visor.
13. Replace the O-ring on the wiper shaft and grease it with
®
Molykote
111.
14. Make sure that the sleeve (see figure E-2 on the fold-out
page) is attached to the wiper arm, then position the wiper
in the front port.
15. Align the wiper shaft, then insert it into the wiper arm
through the front port.
The flattened place on the wiper shaft must point to the
left if you look at the front of the mask.
16. Push the clip onto the front port until it audibly locks into
place.
17. Insert the button, push apart the spring and lock it into the
guide slots.
18. If necessary, adjust the drinking valve.
19. Hook the cap into place on the button, place it over the
drinking valve if necessary, and then hook it into the visor
frame.
20. If necessary, pull the covering cap of the drinking valve
with the frame over the drinking valve and mount it to the
cap.
21. Mount the wiper handle, then fasten the three screws
(recommended torque: 60+5 Ncm).
®
22. Use Loctite
221 to secure the screw at the wiper handle.
