Cleaning and disinfecting
General notes on the FPS 7000
Clean and disinfect the facepiece after every use.
WARNING
Danger of poisoning!
The mask body must be thoroughly cleaned, so that no
residue of any skin care product remains on the mask body.
Otherwise the elasticity in the sealing area can be lost and the
facepiece will no longer sit correctly.
NOTICE
Risk of material damage!
Do not clean or dry the inside of facepieces with a visor
marked "PCaf" with a cloth, since this may damage the
coating.
► After drying, these facepieces should be air-dried
unpacked for at least one day in a normal climate
according to DIN EN ISO 291, so that the coating can
regenerate and an optimum service life is achieved.
NOTICE
Risk of damaging the material!
For cleaning and disinfecting, do not use any solvents (e.g.
acetone or alcohol) or cleaning agents with scouring particles.
► Only follow the specified procedure and use the specified
cleaning and disinfecting agents. Other agents, dosages
and application times may cause damage to the product.
For information on suitable cleaning agents and disin-
fectants and their specifications, see document
9100081 at www.draeger.com/IFU.
3.3.1 Cleaning and disinfecting the full face
mask or mask/helmet combination
1. When cleaning the FPS 7000 RP (with drinking tube
connector), remove accessories such as mask spectacles
and mouthpiece and clean them separately.
FPS 7000 RP: If the Dräger FPS 7000 RP has a drinking
valve, the drinking valve must be cleaned (see "Cleaning
and disinfecting the drinking valve", page 13). Place the
wipers in the centre of the visor.
2. Prepare a cleaning solution consisting of water and a
cleaning agent.
3. Clean all parts using a soft cloth with cleaning solution.
4. Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
5. Prepare a disinfectant bath consisting of water and a
disinfectant.
6. Put all parts to be disinfected in the disinfectant bath.
7. Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
8. Dry all parts in the air or in a drying cabinet (temperature:
max. +60 °C). Do not expose to direct sunlight.
9. Fit the accessories.
FPS 7000 RP: Fit the drinking valve mouthpiece.
Mask/helmet combination: If necessary, relubricate the
sliding surfaces (ball joint, guide plate) of the mask/helmet
®
adapter with Voltalef
or Molykote
The facepieces of the FPS 7000 RA/PE/ESA/P series
can also be cleaned and disinfected using a machine.
Further information can be obtained from Dräger.

3.3.2 Cleaning and disinfecting the drinking
valve
1. Prepare the cleaning solution (completely dissolve 1
cleaning tablet in 1 litre of drinking water) and fill it into the
drinking reservoir.
2. Replace the mouthpiece with the drain hose.
3. Connect the drinking reservoir to the outside of the
drinking valve with a hose.
4. Squeeze the cleaning solution from the drinking reservoir
through the drinking valve until a small amount of the
solution emerges from the drain hose.
5. Close the drain hose with a hose clip.
6. Allow the cleaning solution to act for 3 minutes.
7. Open the hose clip and squeeze approximately half of the
cleaning solution from the drinking reservoir through the
drinking valve.
8. Close the hose clip again and let the cleaning solution act
for a further 3 minutes.
9. Open the hose clip and squeeze the remaining cleaning
solution through the drinking valve.
10. Fill the drinking reservoir with clear drinking water.
11. Squeeze the water from the drinking reservoir through the
drinking valve.
12. Disconnect the drinking reservoir from the hose.
13. Using a compressed air pistol, blow oil-free compressed
air into the hose until the drinking valve is dry.
14. Remove the hose and the drain hose.
3.4
Leak test
General notes on the FPS 7000
Carry out the leak test with a suitable test unit (e.g. from the
Testor or Quaestor series).
When testing size L or S facepieces, take particular care
when applying the mask to the test head, as the face seal
sometimes does not seal optimally. Moistening the face seal
facilitates exact donning, since the mask can slide onto the
test head more easily.
3.4.1 Checking for leaks
1. Moisten the face seal with water.
2. FPS 7000 RA/PE/ESA/P: Moisten the exhalation valve
with water.
3. Mount the facepiece on the test head, if necessary using
the corresponding mount for mask/helmet combinations.
4. Make sure that the face seal fits tightly onto all parts of the
test head. Inflate the test head if necessary.
5. Seal the front port with the adapter and produce a
negative pressure of 10 mbar.
The facepiece is considered leak-tight if the pressure drop
is less than 1 mbar/min.
FPS 7000 RA/PE/ESA/P: If the facepiece is leaking,
consult the following chapter (see "Test with sealed
exhalation valve (FPS 7000 RA/PE/ESA/P)", page 14).
FPS 7000 RP: If the facepiece is leaking, consult the
following chapter (see "Leak test under water", page 14).
