VELVET COMPRESSOR
Velvet Comp
The second type of compressor is used mainly as an effect
to smooth out and level the dynamic range from the instru-
ment.. Most modern bass amplifiers are often equipped
with a much simplified version of this type.
The VELVET is an example of just such a compressor but
with more advanced circuitry.
Just one knob adjusts several parameters simultaneous-
ly - GAIN,RATIO and THRESHOLD are all synchronised and
adjusted with the COMPACT knob, Attack and Decay are op-
timised and preset to suit the signal passing through .In use
the VELVET is set so that the volume does not change when
the pedal is switched in/out with the INPUT and OUTPUT
level controls, a three light PPM meter allows the player to
set the input level correctly for optimum results.
Once set users can simply add more or less compression
with the COMPACT knob without touching any other
controls.
USER GUIDE
The VELVET is a compressor that provides a variable soft
compression to the signal. In use the input signal is ad-
justed so that the PMM meter has 2 of the 3 Leds lighting
during normal playing with the Red flashing during max
playing. The Output level is adjusted so that the level does
not change when the pedal is switched in/out.
This initial setting sets the average signal level from which
the compressor works, signals below this level are boost-
ed , and signals above this level are reduced, in this way
compression of up to 30db can be added by the Compact
Knob without having to adjust either of the input/output
controls.
Because of the soft compression curve this pedal should be
almost imperceptible to others listening whilst you reap the
benefits of soft compression.
The Velvet compressor has a frequency response that essen-
tially flat from 30 Hz to over 50KHz
