Troubleshooting

Fault
Sluggishness
of the movable jaw.
Coupling disengages before
reaching the workpiece.
Spindle cannot be turned.
Vice applies no or insufficient
clamping force.
Force adjustment on lock ring
jammed.
Clamping force cannot be re-
leased.
Cause
Swarf contamination of lower
section or spindle nut travel
blocked.
Jamming of the
bayonet pressure pad.
Jamming of the trapezoidal
spindle in the clamping block
due to swarf ingress.
Mobile jaw was secured with
excessively long screws, which
are pressing against the spin-
dle.
Sluggishness of the movable
jaw.
Coupling was not engaged the
last time the workpiece was re-
leased.
Clamping of elastic workpieces
or packages.
Swarf in the mechanism.
Power intensifier defective.

Rectification
Remove spindle and
clean lower section.
Oil guide tracks and friction sur-
faces.
Re-install the spindle.
The lateral knurled screw must
not press against the pressure
pad but must instead thread
into the lateral bore on the
pressure pad; the pressure pad
must have play.
Remove swarf from the pres-
sure pad recess.
Remove the spindle from the
vice.
Unscrew the spindle from the
clamping block.
Clean both parts.
Check and clean wipers on both
sides.
Use oil for installation; do not
use grease.
Use correct screw length.
See above.
Rotating the crank anti-clock-
wise while holding the spindle
radially will cause the coupling
to engage tangibly.
Mechanical pre-clamping, then
power clamping.
Send the spindle in for repair.
Leave the crank pin in the spin-
dle.
Send the spindle in for repair.
