7 – Installation and setting
Rechargeable battery
Lithium-ion battery technology
This new type of battery has decisive
advantages over conventional Ni-Cd
batteries:
• No memory effect, i.e. regardless of
its charge status, the battery can be
recharged at any time before or after
use without loss of capacity.
• Extremely low self-discharge, so it is
ready for use even after longer storage
periods.
• Light in weight.
• Long service life.
The battery is fully integrated into the
appliance and is not accessible for the
user. Charging is effected via the charging
current input (3) on the appliance.
Charging (Fig. 2)
ATTENTION! The battery in your
appliance is not fully charged by
the manufacturer! Before using for
the first time, therefore, it must be
charged for about 5 hours. Full
battery capacity is reached after 4 to
5 charging and discharging cycles.
Connect the power pack (2) to a 230 V
socket. Connect the charging cable (1)
of the power pack to the charging
current input (3) of the appliance (Fig. 2).
The LED pilot lamp (4) will light up in
red. Once the battery is fully charged,
the pilot lamp will change from red to
green. Please observe the directions
under "battery".

ATTENTION! The power pack is
calibrated for use with the Li-ion
battery installed in the appliance!
Therefore use only the charger
supplied with the appliance.
ATTENTION! The power pack will
become warm during charging!
Therefore do not use the power pack
on highly flammable materials, such
as paper, fabrics, etc., or in a
potentially explosive environment.
ATTENTION! Do not exceed
the maximum charging time of
5 hours, as this causes dangerous
overheating!
Recommendation: Connect the
charger to a time switch.
Attaching the sandpaper sheet
Switch off the machine.
The sanding plate (8) is fitted with a
Velcro system for sandpaper sheets.
This allows sandpaper sheets to be
fixed quickly without a clamping device.
Before attaching a new sheet of sanding
paper, beat the Velcro surface as well as
the dust-extraction openings (9) of the
sanding plate to remove any dust.
Lay the sandpaper sheet (12) flat over
the sanding plate (4) and ensure that the
perforations (3) of the sanding plate and
the paper coincide with one another.
Peel off the Velcro coating to detach the
sanding paper.
Dust exhaust
The vacuum-cleaner connection
also enables the use of a vacuum
cleaner for dust extraction. To do
