MAINTENANCE
ATTENTION:
A
The maintenance operations must be done by autor-
ized service centre or by qualified personnel.
A
WARNING:
Cleaning and maintenance to be carried out by the user
must not be performed by unsupervised children.
A
DANGER!
Due caution must be taken while carrying out mainte-
nance: some metal parts may cause injuries; wear protective gloves.
WARNING:
A
For safety reasons, before carrying out any maintenance
or cleaning jobs, turn off the unit by moving the fan speed selector
to "Off" and putting off the main switch (0 position).
Fan coils do not have particular maintenance requirements: it is suffi-
cient to periodically clean the air filter.
A running in period of 100 hours is necessary to eliminate all initial me-
chanical friction of the motor.
Start-up should be carried out at the maximum operating speed.
To assure that the fan coil units perform efficiently, abide by the follow-
ing indications:
Ū keep the air filter clean
Ū do not pour liquids inside the equipment;
Ū do not introduce metal parts through the air outlet grill;
Ū avoid obstructing the air outlet or intake
Whenever starting up the unit after it has not been used for a long time,
check that there is no air in the heat exchanger.
Before the period of operation in the cooling mode, check that conden-
sate is properly drained and that the heat exchanger fins are not ob-
structed by impurities.
Clean as necessary using compressed air or low pressure steam, taking
care not to damage the fins.
Adequate periodic maintenance will ensure save both energy and
cost savings.
CLEANING THE AIR FILTER
Clean the air filter at least once a month and in any case at the start of
the period of use (before the heating and the air conditioning season).

TROUBLESHOOTING
If the unit is not working properly, before calling a service engineer carry
out the checks indicated in the table below.
PROBLEM
No power supply
The unit fails to work
The automatic safety cutout has tripped
The on/off switch is on
The air filter is dirty or clogged
The heat exchanger is dirty
An obstacle is obstructing the air intake or outlet
The unit provides insufficient cooling
or heating
Air is trapped inside the heat exchanger
There are open windows and/or doors
The minimum speed has been selected
The unit has not been installed with the correct inclination
The unit "leaks" water
The drainage outlet is clogged
other pointed objects in the air outlet grilles.
A
DANGER:
and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabili-
ties, or who lack experience or the necessary knowledge, provided
that they are supervised or after they have received instructions
relating to the safe use of the unit and understand the inherent
dangers. Children must not play with the unit. Cleaning and main-
tenance to be carried out by the user must not be performed by
unsupervised children.
For filter cleaning, proceed as follows.
Ū ESTRO FL version: turn the screws 90°, which secure the filter
to the cover cabinet, to 1/4 turn and remove the filter; see figure
11.13  p. 60.
Ū ESTRO FP version: unscrew the screws to remove the platelets,
which secure the filter to the cover cabinet and remove the filter;
see figure 11.15  p. 60.
Ū Version ESTRO FF: unscrew the screws to remove the platelets, and
remove the filter; see figure 11.14  p. 60.
Ū Recess-mounted models ESTRO FC: access the unit via the inspec-
tion panel and take out the air filter turn 90° the locking staff; see
figure 11.16  p. 60.
Ū Version ESTRO FU: remove the air filters that are inside the intake
grids located on the front panel of the cover cabinet; see figures
11.12  p. 60.
Below:
Ū Clean the filter with warm water or, in the event of dry dust build-up,
using compressed air;
Ū After allowing it to dry, fit the filter back in place.
It is recommended to replace the air filter once a year, using an original
replacement filter; the indoor unit model is specified on the identifica-
tion plate on the inside of the side panel.
CLEANING THE HEAT EXCHANGER
It is advisable to check the condition of the exchangers before the start
of every period of use and to make sure that the fins are not obstructed
by dirt.
CLEANING THE CABINET
Ū Use a soft cloth
Ū Never pour liquids onto the unit, as this could cause electrical dis-
charges and damage the internal components.
Ū Never use harsh chemical solvents; do not clean the air outlet flap
with very hot water.
If the problem cannot be solved, contact your dealer or the nearest ser-
