This famous clock melody was written by George Frideric Handel (1685 to 1759). Everybody
associates the melody with the chimes of the Victoria Clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament
(better known as "Big Ben"). Originally the chimes come from the university church St. M ary's the
Great in Cambridge.
