Align the sensor with the object. Select positioning so that the red transmitted light
beam hits the center of the object. Make sure that the optical opening (front screen) of
the sensor is completely free

Check operating conditions: Match the switching distance and distance to the object or
background as well as the object's reflectivity with the corresponding diagram
(x = switching distance, y = minimum distance between object and background in mm
(reflectivity object / reflectivity background) (reflectivity: 6 % = black, 90 % = white
(referring to standard white according to DIN 5033)).
The minimum distance (= y) for background suppression can be read from the diagram
[cf.
figure 5
15] as follows:
Example: x = 1000 mm, y = 20 mm. I.e. the background is faded out from a distance of
> 20 mm behind the object.
