Defrosting the refrigeration system
A
NOTICE!
The defrosting process should be manually performed regularly:
– When the refrigeration system switches off frequently before reaching
the scheduled automatic defrosting interval (e.g. by frequent loading
and unloading).
– When transporting moist chilled goods.
Otherwise, the evaporator surface may freeze and the cooling capacity of
the refrigeration system will be severely limited.
Never switch off the refrigeration system when defrosting is being per-
formed, either automatically or manually.
I
NOTE
Possible water losses under the vehicle can be traced back to normal conden-
sation discharge; this condensation particularly occurs at high outside temper-
atures and high humidity through the dehumidification effect of the
refrigeration system.
When the temperature in the cargo space drops, condensation forms. This con-
densation freezes on the surface of the evaporator. To obtain full cooling capac-
ity, this ice needs to be defrosted. If the cooling capacity drops, this is a certain
sign that defrosting is necessary. A possible sign of this is the rise of the cargo
space temperature on the display, for example.
The electrical refrigeration system is equipped with a hot-gas defrosting func-
tion. The evaporator is defrosted with the assistance of the heated refrigerant
and ensures that the evaporator is quickly and efficiently freed of ice.
Automatic defrosting
An electronic controller starts this defrosting process automatically after two
complete operating hours.
