water solutions
of the pit (FIG. 9).

5. FIRST START-UP

Check that the level of liquid in the pit is high enough to cover the valve completely, and also to cover the pump if it is not fitted with a cooling
system.
Operate the electric pump and check the whirlpool turbulence created in the water by the flushing valve.
The first two operating cycles may be of irregular duration since there may still be a small air pocket inside the valve.
Check the length of the first 4-5 operating cycles before making any changes to the closure times.
6. OPERATING DESCRIPTION
The heart of the FLX flushing valve is an innovative PATENTED system comprising 2 rubber balls joined together by a flexible diaphragm.
Check that the level of liquid in the pit is high enough to cover the valve completely, and also to cover the pump if it is not fitted with a cooling
system.
When the pump starts up, the valve is open and the liquid in the pit is drawn into the pump and circulated through the pit, to place all the solid
sediments in suspension (FIG. 10 A).
After a time set by the user by means of a regulator, the vacuum created in the valve body recalls a rubber diaphragm, which pushes the two balls
downward to shut off the flow (FIG. 10 B) and allow the water to be conveyed to the delivery outlet before the solid is deposited on the bottom
again.
The pressure generated inside the FLX valve by the pump causes the diaphragm to return, ensuring that the valve is closed correctly (FIG. 10 C).
When the pump stops, the balls return upward, opening the valve and preparing it for the next cycle (FIG. 10 D).
The recommended working time for the FLX valve is between 15 sec. and 50 seconds.
An excellent level of pit cleaning can normally be achieved within this range. Times different from those stated above can be obtained using the
regulator valve if required by the working point of the FLX valve.
The electric pump may use more power than normal during opening of the flushing valve, since use of the valve lowers the working point
considerably, especially on low-power pumps.
7. SETTING THE FLX VALVE OPERATING TIME REGULATOR VALVE
Once the flushing valve duty cycle has been checked in normal operating conditions, the hexagonal regulator valve can be used to increase or
reduce the operating time (FIG. 11).
Remove the electric pump, complete with FLX, from the pit and proceed as follows:
Completely undo the safety screw shown in figure FIG. 11 A.
Turn the bronze hexagon (time regulator valve), always taking care not to extract it from the valve body, since this would allow the fluid to
escape (FIG. 11 B).
The hexagon is numbered from 1 to 6, the product is supplied set on number 3 as standard.
To increase the FLX opening time, set the valve with the number 4, 5 or 6 in line with the arrow on the valve top. To reduce the operating time,
turn in the opposite direction to settings 1 or 2.
Once you have chosen the regulator setting, replace and tighten the safety screw (FIG. 11 C).
A longer operating time has now been set (FIG. 11 D).
Whenever the flushing valve operating time is changed, the procedures described in points "Placing the Assembly in the Pit", "First Start-Up" and
"Operating Description" must be repeated.
