Removing/mounting the
protective cover exten-
sion
If using blades, the protective cover exten-
sion must be removed.
If using the thread spool, the edge of the
extension must be mounted.
Removing the protective cover

1. Unclip the three sides of the click lock
(55) using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
2. Remove the protective cover extension

Clean the extension and protective
cover of the device after each use.
Cleaning the Air Filter
Never operate the equipment with-
out the air filter otherwise dust and
dirt enter the engine and result in
damage to the machine. Keep the
air filter clean.
1. Switch off the engine.
2. Undo the screw (44) on the air filter
cover (6) and take off the air filter cov-
er (6) from the air filter housing (45).
3. Remove the air filter (46) from the air
filter housing (45).
4. Clean the filter (46) with soap and wa-
ter and allow it to dry in the air

Never use petrol for cleaning!
Replace the air filter (46) if it is
worn, damaged or dirty (see "Spare
parts/Accessories").
The grid acts as a spacer and has to
be inserted in the air filter housing
(45) first, if it falls out when remov-
ing the air filter (46).
5. Insert the two lugs on the air filter cover
(6) into the tabs on the air filter housing
(45).
6. Fold the air filter cover (6) over the air
filter housing (45).
7. Fix the air filter cover (6) with the screw
(44).
Changing / Adjusting the
Spark Plug
Worn spark plugs or a spark gap
that is too great will result in a
power reduction of the engine.
1. Switch off the equipment.
2. Take the spark plug connector (2) off of
the spark plug (47).
3. Screw out the spark plug (47) anti-
clockwise using the enclosed mainte-
nance key (see
4. Check the spark gap with the aid of a
feeler gauge (available from specialist
retailers). The electrode gap must
be 0.6 – 0.7 mm.
5. If necessary, adjust the gap by care-
fully bending the spark plug (47) earth
electrode.
6. Clean the spark plug (47) with a wire
brush.
7. Reinsert the cleaned and adjusted
spark plug (47) or replace a damaged
spark plug (47) with a new spark plug
