4. Install the Stem Adapters
Remove the plaster guards.
Close the valves (hot = clockwise, cold = counterclockwise).
Install a spline adapter to each valve stem.
Thread an escutcheon over each sidebody extension until it
bottoms out. Hand tighten.
Choose the appropriate size stem adapters based on the finished
deck/tile thickness. The sizes are as follows: small deck, 0 – 1/4"
(6 mm), medium deck 1/4" (6 mm) – 3/4" (1.9 cm), and large
decks 3/4" (1.9 cm) – 1-1/4" (3.2 cm) thick. Use a small stem
adapter for rim and non-tiled deck applications.
Place the stem adapter into the sidebody extension and push it
down over the spline adapter. Position the stem adapters with the
rounded surface ("D") positioned as shown.
To realign the stem adapters remove them, then remove and
rotate the spline adapter until the desired alignment is found.
