If you are experiencing problems with the tuner, first check the
following items:
® Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into the electrical
outlet.
© Make sure all the cords are properly connected to the amplifier.
® Make sure the antenna(s) are properly connected and positioned.
® Make sure the power switch on the amplifier is turned on.
If problems still persist, check the items in the list below.
Symptoms
There is no sound.
You can't tune in stored stations.
The reception is poor.
There is severe hum and/or background
noise.
You cannot scan stored stations.
The appropriate display does not appear.
RDS information does not appear on the
display. instead, a messages appears.
Cause
The source setting on the amplifier may not
be correct.
The frequency of the station may not be
correctly stored.
The antenna may not be correctly
positioned.
The station may not be properly tuned in.
The signal may be weak.
The tuner may be picking up noise from
another electrical device.
The antenna may not be correctly
positioned.
The antenna wire may be picking up other
tadio signals that are interfering with
reception.
Another wire (FM antenna cable,
connecting cord, power cord, etc.) may be
touching the AM antenna.
One antenna is being used for more than
one tuner and/or with a TV.
The scan operation has not been activated.
The microcomputer in the tuner is not
working properly.
The radio station to which you are tuned is
not providing a particular RDS service, or
the service is out of order.
Remedy
Set the source setting on the amplifier to
TUNER.
Store the frequency of the station again.
Adjust the position of the antenna.
Adjust the tuning knob to tune in the station.
Connect an external antenna (For FM
broadcasts) or run an extra length of wire
from the #@ screw connector (for AM
broadcasts).
Move the tuner and antenna away from the
source of the noise.
Adjust the position of the antenna.
Use coaxial antenna cable.
Move all cords away from the AM antenna.
Use a distributor.
Press TUNE MODE before trying to scan
stations.
(ST-S505ES) Tum the power off. Press and
hold 5. Then press POWER to turn the
power on again.
(ST-S707ES) Tum the power off. Press and
hold 9 and 0. Then press POWER to turn
the power on again.
This erases any preset stations stored in
the memory and returns to display to the
default language (English).
Contact the radio station and find out
whether or not they actually provide the
ROS service in question. If so, the service
may be temporarily out of order.
