Rifling or tramlining is a pattern of different cutting
heights, that causes a cut appearance like a wave.
The cause of rifling can be a heavy contact point
across a reel or a bedknife.
Solution
Inspect the bedknife and reel. Sharpen or replace
the reel and bedknife as necessary.
Install, replace or tighten the bedknife screws to the
correct torque setting.
Decrease the cut (ground) speed.
Mismatched cutting units is a pattern of different
cutting heights, that give the grass a stepped
appearance. This appearance is normally because
of a mismatched HOC (height-of-cut) adjustment
from one cutting unit to another unit.
Solution
Check and adjust HOC on cutting units.
Check and adjust the pressure of the tyres.
