7 Communication Interfaces
Note: The UPS can still function properly without making these communication interface connections.
The SUINT1500LCD1U and SUINT2000LCD1U communication interfaces include an RS-232 port, a USB port, an accessory
slot and an EPO/ROO port. Refer to section 2.6 Rear Panel for their locations.
These ports connect your UPS to any workstation or server. Use with Tripp Lite's PowerAlert
enable your computer to save open files and shut down equipment automatically during a blackout. PowerAlert software also
monitors a wide variety of AC line power and UPS operating conditions. Consult your PowerAlert software manual or contact
Tripp Lite Customer Support for more information.
Dry contact communications are simple, but require some knowledge of electronics for configuration. The DB9 port's pin
assignments are shown in Figure 7-1. If the UPS battery is low, the UPS sends a signal by bridging pins 8 and 5. If utility power
fails, the UPS sends a signal by bridging pins 1 and 5. To remotely shut down the UPS, short pins 3 and 9 for at least 3.8
seconds.

USB Port
The UPS provides another means to record UPS power events, monitor UPS status, adjust transfer voltage, set up alarms and
shut down the UPS safely via a computer. Plug the USB cable into the UPS and your computer, install the software and follow
the on-screen prompts to complete the software installation.
Accessory Slot
An optional WEBCARDLX Web Management Accessory Card may be used to remotely monitor and control the status of the
UPS across a network. For more information, contact your reseller or visit tripplite.com/products/power-management-software-
hardware~10.
EPO/ROO Port
The EPO port allows the user to shut down the UPS in On-Line Mode or in Battery Mode when an emergency occurs. Use a
terminal cable (not included) to connect the EPO port with a user-supplied switch.
If the user-supplied switch is normally open, short the EPO port for approximately 1 second to shut down the UPS. Refer to
Figure 7-2.
