How to operate your Friedrichroom air conditioner
(All models except Y0,07 and E0,08. For Y0,07 and E0,08, see page 6)
To start unit
If your air conditioner is installed and plugged into a proper
receptacle, it is ready to go.
Function control
This dial control allows you to select cooling or heating at
three different speeds, as well as FAN ONLY.
Turn to OFF to turn everything o111
Turn to HI COOL or HI HEAT for quick response.
Turn to MED COOL or MED HEAT to maintain a desired
temperature.
Turn to LO COOL or LO HEAT for nighttime use, or
when demand is low.

Wait three minutes before restarting
The FAN ONLY setting will circulate air in the room
without the compressor coming on. The FAN ONLY
setting can also be used with the EXHAUST air setting to
remove stale air or smoke from the room, or it can be used
with the FRESH AIR setting to bring outside air into the
room, especially in the spring and lifll when cooling isn't
necessary.
The FRESH AIR and EXHAUST controls are in the
upper air discharge area (see Figure 6, page 5). The center
position of this control is the normal, or closed position,
which recirculates air for maximum performance in the
cooling mode.
NOTE: You may notice an odor when first activating the
heat when the electric heat dement comes on. This is due
to dust burning off that may have gathered on the coil
during the summer.
Temperature control
This dial is the thermostat. Turn it clockwise for cooler and
counterclockwise for warmer.
Money Saver ® switch
This rocker switch can be depressed to either YES or NO.
In the YES position you will get the most economical
operation. Both the tim and compressor will cycle on and
off together, maintaining the selected temperature at a more
constant levd and reducing the humidity more efficiently in
the cooling mode. This control will only operate when the
unit is in cooling or heating mode. In the NO position, the
tim will run constantly as long as the unit is in the cooling
or heating mode.
Please Note: The YS09 is a 115 volt model and does not

provide adequate heat below, 7 F (, C). This product is
designed for warm climate applications.
