,d_ WARNING:
Before cleaning or performing
any maintenance,
make sure that
the belt sander has been disconnected
from the power source.

WARNING:
Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields
when using compressed
air to clean the tool. If the operation
is dusty, also wear a
dust mask.
BRUSH REPLACEMENT (Fig. 8}
The belt sander is equipped with
externally accessible brushes.

Brush Assembly
To replace:
1.
Disconnect
the belt sander
from the power source.
2.
Use aslotted
screwdriver
(available separately)
to turn the brush cap

counterclockwise
to remove it.
3.
Remove the brush assembly.
NOTICE: The carbon
brush needs to be replaced when it is less than 1/4 in.
length. Always replace both brushes when one needs replacement.
4.
Replace with a new brush assembly.
Make sure that the curvature
of the
brush matches
curvature
of the motor, that the brush moves freely in in
brush tube, and the two metal "ears" fit into the brush tube.
5.
Tighten the brush cap securely.
Do not over tighten.
6.
Repeat the process with the other brush.
7.
The sander should be allowed to "RUN IN" (run at no=load without
sanding
belt) for 5 minutes before use, to seat the new brushes
properly.
GENERAL
MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents
when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible
to damage from various types of commercial
solvents
and may be damaged
by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc. Keep all
ventilation
openings
clean.
_1_ WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based
products,
penetrating
oils, etc. come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals
can
damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
